SOCIETY is in our third full year, continuing to grow and develop dynamic new work. Your donations will determine the scope of that work in 2023 and beyond.
In our first three years, we’re proud of what we accomplished:
–Premiered our first two stage productions, Beginning Days of True Jubilation by Mona Mansour and The Strangers Came Today by Emily Zemba, in repertory at New Ohio Theatre in June 2022.
– In June 2020, premiered (virtually) our first production, Beginning Days of True Jubilation, as part of the Obie-award-winning Ice Factory festival lineup at New Ohio Theatre, pulling in their largest audience to date for a festival run.
–Produced 13 Cheap Dates (our virtual performance happy hour) including over 75 short scenes and sketches, providing a recurring creative outlet during a time of artistic scarcity.
–Paid over 75 artists through our productions and Cheap Date.
–Launched regular Artistic Percolator development sessions for company members and guest artists.
–Announced a $100,000 grant program to provide no-strings-attached living stipends for dozens of artists in need.
–Donated nearly half of all Cheap Date show proceeds to organizations & individuals in need, including the Okra Project, the Black Trans Travel Fund, the Lebanese Food Bank, and the See Lighting Foundation.
–Successfully funded our first ever Kickstarter campaign, fulfilling our campaign goal and ultimately raising nearly $35,000.
-Received our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt designation, making SOCIETY a non-profit charitable organization.
-Became a member of the Alliance of Resident Theatres in New York.
As a young company, our ability to pay our artists and produce more original, large-ensemble work relies on our generous community.
Your contributions help us pay our actors, directors, playwright, designers, rent space, and much more.
